CONTACT

he young Eric, age 3, receives a violin as a birthday present. His interest in the instrument led him to take private lessons. He joined the Montreal Conservatory at age 9 and graduated with a Bachelor of instrumentation. He then interned at the Orford Arts Centre in 2002 with Gene DiNovi and discovered the electric violin in 2003.

Early in his career, Eric made several incursions into the gypsy jazz, the folk, symphonic and electronica. He will be a member and manager of various groups such as No Parking, and EVO. In 2004, he participated in the film "Head in the Clouds" in which he played the famous jazz violinist Stephane Grappelli.

But it was in 2009 that Eric Speed made a grand entrance in Quebec landscape playing the violin at high speed during a broadcast on TVA, “On n’a pas toute la soirée” hosted by Eric Salvail. Audiences love his look and musical style and propelled him in the first place. The public voted again for him at the show called Sucré Salé (TVA) and Eric wins the grand finale of the show. A few weeks later, he launched an eponymous debut album which received several good reviews and became the best-selling independent of the year at Archambault Music.

The year 2011 is memorable for Eric Speed. In February, he launched a second album called Starland, directed by John Nathaniel. Eric and John realized several string arrangements for various artistic personalities like Marc Dupré (Pop-Rock Album of the Year 2011 ADISQ), Patrick Groulx (Country Album of the Year 2010 ADISQ), Marie-Mai (Rock Album of ADISQ year 2010), Samian (Hip Hop Album of 2011), Anodajay, Annie Lennox, Hopeland, The Garlics and many others.

In May 2011, he participated in a mega-production by Franco Dragone Entertainment, directed by Luc Petit Venice in Italy alongside international artists such as Shakira and Gotan Project. http://www.lucpetitcreation.biz/en/spec_venise.html

In July 2011, he participated in Pinkarnaval well as Victor's Folies Just for Laughs Festival where he broke the Guinness record for the fastest violinist in the world, night after night for eight nights, in front of thousands of people on the main stage outside the festival. His record is officially recognized by Guinness World Record on November 3 when he played the official piece, the Flight of the Bumblebee by Rimsky Korsakov, in 55.58 seconds.

In late summer 2011, Eric co-wrote and produced his own first video "Maniac", a cover of the success of the eighties. Directed by Pierre-Luc Boucher, the video will be a "hit" on YouTube and received over 300,000 views in one month. Viral propagation travels to Mexico and Australia with over 600 000 views so far.

Also in 2011, he met Pyrotecnia Luso Group, which led him to play his original works "live" on a floating platform for a fireworks display offered as part of the International Fireworks Competition in Montreal in July 2012.He offers breathtaking performances in clubs, for corporate clients or studio with diverse personalities and productions in Canadian and American. Eric has shared the stage with many internationally renowned artists such as Beast, Lee Oskar, Samian, K-Maro, Bad News Brown and T-Pain. He has worked with organizations and regional and international productions like Franco Dragone, the Just for Laughs, the Violins of Autumn, Groupe Yvon Michel. Eric played the national anthems for the boxing champion Jean Pascal (WBC) VS Chad Dawson. He regularly works as an artist in galas boxes of GYM.

The last "single" Eric Speed is also dedicated to the new champion "Middleweight" WBC Boxing, Antonin Decarie. The "single" Unbreakable as well as her first two albums are currently available on iTunes. Get it first, this versatile artist who has not finished surprising us currently offers producers and directors the screenplay he wrote.

More recently, Eric Speed was in Rome last October to be part in a mega show staged by Luc Petit Creations ( http://www.lucpetitcreation.biz/ ). This ultra-private and large-scale event was held at Cinecittà, a complex of Italian film studios founded in 1937. More than 200 people, including dancers, musicians, circus performers, acrobats, tamers of horses and others were part of this production in 5 acts with multiplied visual effects. Back home, Eric Speed is preparing to give symphony show with more than 60 musicians from the OSA ( Orchestre symphonique de Sherbrooke ) on December 21 at Centennial Theatre in Sherbrooke. Eric Speed also puts the final composition of his third album which is scheduled for spring 2014.
